Export Monte Carlo simulation data
September 16, 2015
Q: Export Monte Carlo simulation data
Is there a quick way to move the simulation data from RiskyProject to a spreadsheet?
A: Yes, once you have run your Monte Carlo simulations all of the data is available to export as a CSV (comma delimited file). All results including schedule, finish times, cost are included in the file
To export your simulation data, run a simulation. In the Project View or Results Gantt, select the tasks, whose data you want to export. You can press down the or keys to select more than one task. Then go to the File menu, Export> Statistics. You will be prompted to save the file to a local folder. Please note that each iteration creates a row. If you run a large amount of iterations (>2500) be aware that it will create a single row for each iteration.
You may also copy results of Monte Carlo simulations for the particular tasks to the clipboard the paste into Excel. To do it double click on any Gantt bar within a Gantt chart. Then you may right click on particular statistical distribution, and select Copy Data to Clipboard. You may also enlarge statistical distribution by double clicking on it and then again right click on the chart, and select Copy Data to Clipboard.
